Pah rum pah pah pum

That little drummer boy has it out for me. That song--it stays in my head, endless loops of pah-rum-ing, pah-rum-ing, pah-rum-ing, through day, night, sleep, meetings, eating, talking, piercing even through other music playing. Each breath, each heartbeat echoes with a PAH-RUM. I have no respite, no refuge.

After days of torture, by some miracle or whim the capricious demon drummer boy will leave me be, and the quiet falls like gentle snow, blanketing my wounded psyche...Then--WHAM!--The Song That Shall Not Be Named is playing on the radio, in the grocery store, on TV.

He leaves only to torture me more.

Pah-RUM PAH-RUM PUM PUM

The Holy Family was truly holy not to beat the drummer boy with his own drumstick.

And imagine the scene that night in Bethlehem: Some little bastard pounding on a drum while Mary tries to keep her newborn warm and asleep. Where did that kid come from? He's not with the Wise Men, is he? What is he doing walking around at night with that drum? What are his parents thinking? For Christ's sake, he's scaring the livestock! Beat it, you little brat! No, no, don't beat it!!

I hate it all. Every last song. Especially when played at annoying volume (i.e., I can hear it OVER THE RADIO I'M LISTENING TO ON MY HEADPHONES). The drummer boy is only one offender, believe me.

Larry: It is so rich with schlock that I could not ingest more than a verse on first viewing; also, I was feeling guilty for laughing at the poor kid and his dying mama. Not very Christmasy of me, no sirree.

I'll try more later. Thanks for this. :D

Narya: Just get yourself sugared up and sing along. There's nothing else can be done.
