1. Rain tapping on an umbrella. Reminds me of rain tapping on the tent on camping trips when I was little. Sad, the weather we must have had every year.

2. White noise from the Mac, the drip drip drip of melting snow running off the roof, someone whistling in the hallway

3. "Madeline and Nine" and "Down on the River by the Sugar Plant", both my Mike Doughty.

1. The sound of a football game on TV makes me think of Sunday afternoons when I was a kid, before my parents got divorced, when my dad would watch football every Sunday. Which might be part of why my parents got divorced, come to that.

2. White noise from the Mac (I wouldn't have thought of this if kStyle hadn't said it), and cars going by on the road outside my building. It's pretty quiet here.

3. I don't know if I'd say "obsessed," but the one I've had in my head today is Annie Lennox's cover of Bob Marley's "Waiting in Vain."

Ah yes, the football game sound! Makes me sleepy, like it's Sunday nap time.

1. Waves washing up on a shore make me think of the many summer weeks I spent at my great-grandmother's cabin on a Minnesota lake. "Hail Holy Queen" makes me think of the movie "Sister Act."

2. People talking; papers rustling; keyboards chattering; phones ringing; the building's main fan turning. My Mac's silent.

3. I have Louis Armstrong's version of "Ain't Misbehavin'" stuck in my head right now. (I know only about half the words.) I've also been adoring Tegan and Sara's use of repetition on their album "So Jealous."

1. The sound of rain, and the sound of baseball on TV (Richie Ashburn (RIP) and Harry Kalas, in particular). Actually, any baseball on radio will do it, too.
2. A siren. Traffic. A plane. C coughing in the next room. My keyboard keys.
3. Still loving the shuffle on the iPod, so it's whatever the iPod serves me. I've also been noticing that there's often a song in my head in the morning, but it's not always clear from where it came--could be from a couple of days ago, for example--and it's not usually a song that I actually like.

1. Alert sirens. I grew up next door to a nuclear power plant.

2. Hare Krishna music pouring from my computer.

3. Easy Like Sunday Morning (the Faith No More cover)
