I Just Decided
I've been wondering whether Clinton of Obama should be my contender for '08. Been leaning toward Clinton, because she seems most qualified to me. Obama is a little too green. Does he have the fight? But then, I argued with myself, we need a relative outsider for real change.
I just read this Slate article about the Pentagon insulting Clinton, and I decided that she's the one for me. It's good. Go read it. Not too long.

I, on the other hand, like John Edwards. I like that he continues to bring up poverty, that he doesn't forget his roots, etc. I also think he's more electable, in the long and short run--remember that swift-boating Kerry got? Remember the trash talked about Al Gore? That will seem mild compared to what will be brung against Hill. I also think there are a whole bunch of people who simply will not vote for a woman or a black man. They won't say so, but they won't do it, either.
Actually, I REALLY want Al Gore to run again. Gore with any of the above three would rock my world.
The letter from the Undersecretary almost looks like some weird Republican attempt to help Hillary Clinton win the nomination. She's the most pro-war of the Democrats, so she needed to establish her left-wing cred. This letter, and her firing back, does just that, but really, all the other Democratic contenders have been (under the definitions set forth by Edelman) giving more aid and comfort to the enemy than she has, so why single her out?
Bill Richardson is by far the most qualified to run the country, and I like his no-bullshit approach, but If I had to choose right now I'd go with Edwards. He has owned up to his mistake in voting for the Iraq war and he wants to do something about poverty and the plight of the working person. The growing divide between rich and poor in this country and around the world has got to be moderated or Very Bad Things are going to happen. Also, Gore is not going to run.
That said, if Hillary is nominated, she will win -- any Democrat will beat any Republican this time -- and I'll support her.
