I am totally with you on this--leave the poor woman alone already!

Why feel bad? She's been tortured since she was, like, three, and now she's finally able to leave show business, which is probably what she wants. She's had her fifteen minutes of fame and abject adulation, she's experienced the joy of motherhood and she may not have to actually raise those kids, she's got a squadrillion dollars and even with the few "extra" pounds she's still smokin' hot.

The best years of my life were when I was taking drugs and getting monkey drunk. I'd trade places with her, as long as I didn't have to do Timberlake.

I wouldn't mind the timberlake so much as I'd mind having my exploits and my ass all over everyone's computer screen/newspaper/television.

Larry--either you are incredibly optimistic or incredibly cynical, I can't tell which. :)

Narya--yes, it's the public humiliation. And there's this unfairness, that she was set up to end up this way, and now she is mocked.

True aficionados always mocked her, because she was a fake.

She wasn't set up. She was in a business that eats you up, and in which she didn't belong. Since she had no deep creative urge, no specific, impelling reason to be in the business she was in, it was all a sham, and when the pressure got high, she couldn't fight it.

This isn't exactly what I want to say about this. True, it's sad, but not tragic, in the classical sense.
