When we were children my older sister and I were playing in the snow one day. I had a shovel in my hand and I turned around without knowing she was behind me. I whacked her in the face with it by accident and split her lip open. She needed stitches. We both cried.

The full moon shone through the bare trees, floating low in the pale blue sky. We waited for a deer to cross the snowy yard, but none appeared.
