1. I've tried being a vegetarian a few times. Invariably, I'd find myself fatigued. This fatigue was remedied by beef.

2. I was never a smoker of nicotine.

3. 1-3 cups of tea almost daily. Not today, though. Coffee is like speed to me. I enjoy the taste, but can only drink it when I’m 99.99% certain that the day will not be stressful.

1. I was primarily vegetarian for several years, but that was several years ago, now. I was never vegan, but I used to frequent a vegan restaurant / coffee shop in Springfield, Ohio. Well frequent is wrong, just when I was in the neighborhood which was every few weeks.

2. Nope.

3. It varies from a very little in some iced tea to a ton in the form of having a whole thermos and gourd of mate to myself. Today was a bit medium in that I had pop (sorry non mid-westerners) at lunch. Actually, some people claim mate does not have caffeine in it, but really it's largely the same effect whether it's caffeine or mateine.

1. I was a vegetarian for about two years. I went back to meat during my freshman year of college, mainly due to hamburger cravings.

2. I have never smoked a cigarette. I have smoked a couple of cigars.

3. At most, one cup of tea in a day.

Ben: I never could get on the yerba mate bus. Tastes like bad green tea to me. Do you think I had subpar mate?

Emma: Venison strikes me as a pretty exotic meat to have with any regularity. How does one prepare it?

Ann and Eric: Hi! Don't feel left out! Kisses!

I think mate pretty much tastes like weird, dirty, green tea, so what you had was probably at least average quality. I took to the taste of it pretty quickly, but my guess is it's one of those things that are usually an acquired taste (at least to people who don't grow up with it everywhere around them). It was Borges that led me to mate - it's at least a side note in many of his stories.

Ben: Borges! Hidden with you again! Isn't it magical when an writer's work touches your life in a very real way?

Emma: I've actually wanted to try pheasant. If it tastes anything like quail-->YUM
